These rioters are often funded and led by Hamas, and are directed to attack visitors, as well as the police, with rocks, iron rods, Molotov cocktails and explosive devices.

This cynical use of one of holiest sites for Muslims by Palestinian leaders and media outlets is one of the main causes for violence in Gaza and the West Bank today. In fact, Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount was used by Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority as an excuse to launch the Second Intifada, claiming the lives of 745 Israeli civilians and 319 soldiers.

Since then, the "Al-Aqsa is in danger" libel is regularly used to inspire young Palestinians to commit violence and terrorism against Israel.

Conclusions

It is not Israel, but radical Islamic operatives who undermine the status quo on the Temple Mount. The weaponized rhetoric of the “Al Aqsa is in danger” lie has been used repeatedly by Palestinian and Arab leaders to incite violence against Israelis and Jews in general. Israel is committed to maintaining the status quo on the Temple Mount and will oppose any attempt to change it forcefully.
